Azerbaijan, Baku/ Trend , corr. I. Khalilova/ The launch of scientific researches and studies of construction and installation of atomic power plants (APPs) as alternative electric power sources may be yet considered as not real.
Husseyngulu Baghirov, Azerbaijan's Ecology and Natural Resources Minister, has said today that the possibility on construction and installation of APPs in the country may be viewed in 10-15 years.
" Azerbaijan will be developed in the field of high-tech, and we may return to this issue at our convenience, but to date, no document has been considered in this direction. Even President Ilham Aliyev during his visit to Seoul marked the availability of significant and ecologically-pure energy resources in Azerbaijan, which are generated traditionally," noted Mr. Baghirov.
The Economic Development Ministry of the Country has not viewed this issue either.
Accoirding to Heydar babayev, Azerbaijan's Economic Development Minister, such a decision is to be made at a high level by adding that this is not a business of economic facilities.
"From the financial point of view, the construction of APPs is a very expensive project for state. There are also issues connected with ecological security of the country," said Mr. Babayev.
However, the Minister does not rule out the possibility to return and learn this proposal but only after possibilities of experimental and practical use of wind and sun energy are fully studied.
The legislation of some European countries, for example, Italy prohibits the construction and installation of APPs. However there are such countries where APPs generate up to 70% out of its total electric power generation.
