Azerbaijan to Increase Gas Supply to Georgia

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr U. Ismayilova / The gas supply to Georgia will increase once the second well at the Shah Deniz gas condensate field is operating, Azerbaijani Minister of Industry

According to Aliyev, the gas supplied to Georgia in addition to the guaranteed supply for 2007 is sold at the price that was defined for Turkey (up to $120 per 1,000 cm). At present 1mln cm of gas is supplied to Georgia per 24 hours. Part of the gas intended for Turkey is exported to Georgia as the country is not technically ready for import fuel.

Georgia will receive 250mln cm of gas from Shah Deniz this year, with every 1,000 cm for $63. Additional supplies are under discussion.

In April, Azerbaijan stopped its supply of gas to Georgia through the old Baku-Tbilisi pipeline within the framework of the agreement with the Azerigaz closed joint-stock company. In accordance with this agreement, 105mln cm of gas was transported to Georgia at a price of $120 per 1,000 cm.
