SOCAR Begins Drilling New Wells on Onshore Field

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Aliyev / The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has begun drilling a next well on Zeyvya-Zagli field in Siyazan district of Azerbaijan, a source in SOCAR reported.

The depth of the well equals nearly 2,000 m. SOCAR's Oil and Gas Production Unit Azneft intends to expand work on the field. Generally 20 wells are planned for drilling on the field this year. Currently the oil reserves are being clarified and the drilling program continues.

A number of wells have already been drilled on the field. According to the initial assessments, the reserves of the field equal 3-3.5 mln tons of mineable resources. One production well has been drilled on the field totaling 14.5 tons per day. The average depth of the wells is nearly 200 m. SOCAR made the decision to activate the work and in particular it is intended to create conditions for work through the watch-standing method. Three or four wells will be drilled on the field simultaneously which will include exploration and assessment wells.
