Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr N. Kirtskhalia / The import of Azerbaijani petrol to Georgia is helping to prevent the rapid rise in prices for oil products in the country, a source at the Georgian Union of Importers, Exporters, Consumers, and Producers of Oil Products has reported.

According to the Union, the rise in prices for oil in the world has caused an increase in oil product prices in Georgia. The prices for petrol and diesel oil have increased on average by 10 tetri and reached the maximum for this year. The Super petrol costs 1.7 lari per litre, Premium 1.6 lari, and Euro Regular 1.45 - 1.5 lari. Georgian experts note the possibility of another increase by 3-5 tetri.

The wholesale price for petrol imported to Georgia from Azerbaijan is 1.38-1.4 lari, which provides for stability of petrol prices in Georgia, compared to the European countries. The import of Azerbaijani petrol positively affects the petrol consumer market in Georgia, the experts said.
