SOCAR to Increase Oil Delivery from Novorossiysk Port in June

Azebaijan, Baku / Trend / The Marketing and Economic Operations Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) announced a tender to deliver 2.2mln barrels of Urals oil.

SOCAR announced that oil will be delivered in three batches: the first at a volume of 1mln barrels (135,000 tons) on 15-16 June, the second at a volume of 600,000 barrels (82,000 tons) on 24-25 June and the third batch at a volume of 600,000 barrels (82,000 tons) on 29-30 June. The results of the tender will be announced on 29 May.

In January SOCAR did not transport its oil via the Baku -Novorossiysk oil pipeline. In February, March, April and May SOCAR shipped three batches of oil at a total volume of 450,000 barrels.

In January oil pumping via the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline was not carried out due to oil being delivered to the oil refinery plants for production of fuel for electric power grids. This year Azerbaijan has ceased its gas import from Russia, which was used at the power stations to produce electricity.

In January to March 2007 the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) exported approximately 1,576,300 tons of crude oil. Some 183,431 tons of oil was transported via the Baku-Novorossiysk route. In 2006, export via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline made up 1,172,000 tons of oil (in 2005 it was 1,631,000 tons).

In 2007 the oil cargoes from Novorossiysk have been purchased by the companies:

Glencore Energy UK Ltd - February (450.000 barrels);

REOC Ltd - March (450.000 barrels);

Glencore Energy UK Ltd - April (450.000 barrels).

Sunoil SA - May (450,000 barrels).
