Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / The United States imported 2,694mln barrels of oil and oil products from Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2007, according to the report of the Energy Information Administration at the US Department of Energy.
The United States imported 2,677mln barrels of oil and oil products in January, 17,000 barrels in March. In February the import was not registered.
In 2006, the United States imported 10mln barrels of Azerbaijani oil in oil products (563,000 barrels in 2005 and 484,000 barrels in 2004).
Azerbaijani oil is delivered via the Baku-Supsa pipeline to the Georgian Supsa port from where it is exported. At present the pipeline is under repair which will be completed by the end of the year. The oil is also transported from the Georgian Black Sea Batumi port by railway.
Another export route is Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline (BTC) which delivers oil to the Turkish Ceyhan port. The pipeline has been in operation since 2005.
