Georgia to Increase Volume of Electricity in Export to Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / The Energy Minister of Georgia, Nika Gilauri , stated that from the 15 of June, Georgia intends to increase the volume of electricity exported into Azerbaijan up to 4 mln KVt /h per day.

According to him, presently, the daily volume of the electricity supply equals 2 mln KVt /h. According to the contract signed between Azerbaijan and Georgia, Georgia claims to cover the electricity demand of Azerbaijan in the summer period, as well as, the volume of the Georgian electricity export. Resulting in making up nearly 200 mln KVt /h.

The Minister said that Georgia will receive electricity from Azerbaijan of the same volume in the winter period.
