Bryza briefed the media on the 6th of June in Baku at the "Caspian Oil 2007" conference that exporting the natural gas to Europe via Azerbaijan through NABUCCO project is 20% more effective than "Blue Stream".

NABUCCO pipeline, 4 km in length, envisages transporting Middle Asian and Caspian gas to Europe via Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Austria. The pipeline is expected to be launched in 2011. The cost of the project is estimated to be €5 bln. The project was developed by Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Turkish Botas , Bulgarian Bulgargaz and Romanian Transgaz .

"Blue Stream" is a gas pipeline between Russia and Turkey. The pipeline is 1213 km in length. The pipeline has been constructed on the base of the Russian-Turkish agreement dated 1997 according to which Russia should supply 364.5 bln cu.m of gas to Turkey in 2000-2025. The expenditures for the construction of the pipeline amounted to $3.2 bln.
