Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend / In January to May 2007, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Operating Companies (OC) and Joint Ventures (JV) produced 3,660,420 tons of oil from onshore and offshore fields of the country, which is by 56,990 tons (1.5%) less than was produced in 2006.
During this period the oil and gas production units (OGPU) of SOCAR produced a total of 3,170,230 tons of oil, or 61,350 tons (1.9%) less as compared to 2006.
In this period foreign companies within the joint ventures (JV) and operating companies (OC) produced 490,190 tons oil, which is by 4,360 tons (0.9%) more than was produced in 2006.
In compliance with the forecasts, this year the SOCAR, JVs and OCs will produce 8.8mln tons of oil, including 7,610,000 tons by OGPUs and 1,190,000 tons by JVs and OCs.
In January to April 2007, the total gas production in Azerbaijan comprised 3,858,590 cu m or 995.34mln cu m (34.8%) more as compared to 2006. The oil and gas production units of SOCAR produced 2,206,820 cu m of gas, or 619.74mln cu m (39%) more as compared to 2006. JV and OC produced 57.59mln cu m of gas in this period, or 5.14mln cu m (9.8%) more than in 2006.
During this period the Azerbaijan International operating Company (AIOC) produced from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field 1,212,500 cu m of associated gas, or almost the same as in 2006.
There are 57 oil and gas fields in Azerbaijan, including 18 offshore. SOCAR staff consists of 59,170 employees.
