BP Company Announces Volume of Confirmed Oil Reserves in   Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Aliyev / This week the BP Company presented annual review of the world energy, which says that the countries with developing markets make significant contribution to cover the demands for the energy resources in the world.

The reports says that the confirmed oil reserves of Azerbaijan, where BP operates large-scale projects, for the end of 2006 equals 7 bln barrels (1 bln tons), which makes up 0.6% of the worldwide mineable reserves.

The report states that the oil production in Azerbaijan in 2006 equaled 654.000 barrels per day, an increase of 44.9% from 2005. The oil production in Azerbaijan increased by 3.5 times over the last ten years.

The oil consumption in Azerbaijan in 2006 totaled 96.000 barrels per day, a decrease of 10.7% from 2005.

Presently the development project of Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields is the largest oil project of BP in Azerbaijan.
