Italy,  Turkey and  Greece to Sign Gas Agreement on 26 July :  Edison

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend A. Badalova / Italy, Turkey and Greece has plans to sign an agreement on 26 July regarding the construction of a gas pipeline for the export of gas from Central Asia to Europe beginning from 2011, a source at the central office of Italian Edison company reported to Trend on 26 July. The agreement will be signed in Rome.

The pipeline system will include a 212km underwater section linking Greece and Italy. It is planned to transport 11.5bln cu m of gas per year to Greece via the system, the major part of which will be re-exported.

Azerbaijani gas produced in Shah Deniz gas condensate field, which is now supplied to Turkey through South-Caucasus gas pipeline, can be transported via this route. The transportation capacity of the pipeline makes up 20bln cu m of gas per year.
