Azerbaijani President:  Azerbaijan to Participate in Investment Projects in   Tajikistan

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr A. Ismayilova / Azerbaijan and Tajikistan have achieved agreement on cooperation in oil and gas field, Tajikistan's President, Emomali Rahmon, stated in Baku on 13 August after the negotiations held within the framework of his official visit to Azerbaijan.

According to Rahmon, the two countries have intentions to increase goods turnover to $500mln per year within next five years. As a result of 2006, goods turnover between the countries made up $131mln.

Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, noted a joint press conference, "We have firm determination to take part in investment projects in Tajikistan."

A decision to send a group of experts of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) to Tajikistan to hold search work was made on 13 August.

Azerbaijan is interested in cooperation with Tajikistan also in other fields. "Financial side does not cause any problem. We have enough financial means and intensively work with international financial institutes. The rating of Azerbaijan is growing. Therefore we can draw large financial means for investment projects. I think the first results of the activities in this field will can be evident in near future," Aliyev said.
