Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Aghayeva, V. Sharifov / Azerbaijan has become one of world's gas exporters, BP's Executive Director on Exploration and Production, Andy English, stated at the meeting with Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev, on 22 August.
According to English, Azerbaijan's coup has only become possible as a result of its exporting of gas from the Shah Deniz field. Now the gas is sold in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey.
Azerbaijani President expressed his confidence in further successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and BP.
A source at BP Azerbaijan reported that English also met with the President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), Rovnag Abdullayev, and held internal meetings at BP on 22 August. The oil company discussed the progress of BP's large projects in Azerbaijan, including Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli and Shah Deniz.
In Azerbaijan, BP operates large oil and gas projects, including the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline. BP produces high-gravity oil in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field and is the technical operator of the project on development of the Shah Deniz gas and condensate field.
