Azerbaijan to Give Several Electricity Networks to Long-term Management

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend / Azerbaijan intends to present to long-term management several electricity distribution networks entering the Sumgayit electricity network and Sheki regional energy supply. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev issued a relevant decree in this connection.

The company manages the electricity distribution networks in Sumgayit, Sheki, Gakh, Balakan, Zakatala and Oguz Districts (northwest Azerbaijan). The State Committee on State Property Managament is in charge of ensuring the conduct of open competition on delivery of distribution networks to the management and sign a contract with the winner of the competition.

The delivery to management is carried out with respect to attract investments, revive the regional energy supply networks, restructure infrastructure, increase transparency in payment for electricity supply, improve electricity supply to population.

Earlier, the electricity distribution line of Sumgayit was at the management of Turkey's Barmek company, but a contract with the latter was cancelled due to its failure to implement the necessary obligations and the networks were retuned to the management of the Government.

Meanwhile, Bayva was the manager of the Sheki regional electricity network, but later refused from its obligations due to absence of finances for investing
