Iran's Central Bank: SWIFT plays no rule in currency settlements, accounts' freezing

With the suspension of SWIFT’s rendering services to some banks in Iran, no problems are predicted to occur in foreign trade and currency exchange, the Central Bank of Iran said in a message, Mehr News Agency reported.

SWIFT plays no role in currency settlements and freezing of accounts, said the bank's message.

The Central Bank of Iran said that SWIFT is a system that transmits information between banks and businesses at the international level.

The bank added that alternative systems have been launched in Iran recently.

Therefore, economic activists in Iran can use the services of all banks that have a banking license for trade and currency operations, the bank said.
