In august, Iraqi central bank has called on the other banks to stop dealings in US dollarы with the Iranian ones, due to US sanctions against Iran, but an Iranian official has announced that this policy has been revised due to Islamic Republic's request.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry had earlier claimed that, at the request of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, the US dollar should be removed from Iranian and Iraqi financial exchanges and the Iraq`s Central bank has issued the needed instructions to banks, while the Chamber of Commerce did not make such a request, the Secretary General of Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce Sayyed Hamid Hosseini, told Trend.

“The Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce stated that most financial transactions should be based on dinar and rials, and the US dollar should have little to do with the trade between the two countries,” he explained.

"Finally, with our efforts, the Central Bank of Iraq reformed its directive, and it was announced to all banks that the use of the US dollar in Iran-Iraq financial exchange does not have any legal prohibitions,“ said Hosseini.

“Until now, even the Iraqi travelers who came to Iran had trouble with buying the US dollars and leaving Iraq,” said Hosseini.

On November 29, the Central Bank of Iraq has ordered banks and foreign exchange companies across the country not to sell the US dollars to those wishing to travel to Iran.
