Azerbaijani banks increase sale of US dollars

In January-November 2018, Azerbaijani banks sold cash in foreign currency equivalent to 7.787 billion manats, Trend reports with reference to the report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Jan. 4.

US dollars enjoyed the greatest demand among bank customers. For eleven months, their sale by banks amounted to 4.797 billion in manat terms, while for the whole 2017, US dollars were sold for 4.796 billion manats.

Sales of the British pound reached 94.698 million in manat terms, and sales of euro amounted to 1.258 billion in manat terms, while sales of the Russian ruble reached 87.619 billion in manat terms.

In the reporting period, the banks of Azerbaijan bought cash in foreign currency worth 4.465 billion manats.

Thus, for eleven months of 2018, banks bought US dollars for 3.43 billion in manat terms (for the entire 2017, the purchase amounted to 3.168 billion manats).

British pound purchases reached 20.677 million in manat terms, purchases of euro amounted to 427.771 million in manat terms and purchases of the Russian ruble reached 400.656 million in manat terms.

There are 30 banks in Azerbaijan, including two state-owned ones.
