By Rashid Shirinov – Trend:

Uzbekistan will soon put into circulation a new banknote of 100,000 soums, Trend reports citing Sputnik Uzbekistan.

According to a source familiar with the matter, the design of the banknote is currently being worked out. The source could not specify the date of the banknote’s introduction into circulation.

"It is possible that the 100,000 soum banknote will appear in the country by the Novruz holiday, this may happen on March 1 or April 1 – the final date has not yet been approved," the source said.

The press service of the Central Bank, in turn, said that the financial regulator had previously informed that it would work on the expansion of the nominal value of banknotes.

"The relevant technical tasks were given and the work is underway," the Central Bank said.

Currently, the largest banknote in Uzbekistan is 50,000 soums. Experts think that the emergence of new bills will save people time, as well as paper and paint. Some experts believe that Uzbekistan is likely to carry out denomination in the foreseeable future.
