Uzbekistan's foreign reserves decrease

The gold and foreign reserves of Uzbekistan decreased by 3.55 percent in 2018 and amounted to $27,081 billion as of January 1, 2019, as compared to to a 6.24 percent increase in 2017, Trend reports with reference to NUZ.

Assets in foreign currency declined over the last year by 11.4 percent to $12.44 billion, in monetary gold they grew in cash equivalent by 4.32 percent to $14.64 billion and in physical volume by 5.55 percent up to 11.4 million troy ounces.

The share of the first position in country's foreign exchange reserves decreased from 50.01 percent on January 1, 2018 to 45.94 percent on January 1, 2019, and on the second enlarged from 49.99 to 54.06 percent, respectively.

Net foreign exchange reserves of Uzbekistan on the accounts of the Central Bank declined by 0.65 percent to $26.39 billion over the year, as opposed to to 5.48 percent growth in 2017. These reserves do not take into account currency funds of banks and government agencies except for the Ministry of Finance and the Fund for Reconstruction and Development.

At the same time, their share in the country's total foreign exchange reserves increased from 94.62 percent on January 1, 2018 to 97.46 percent on January 1, 2019.
