Money turnover on Kazakh bank cards up by over 50%

Money turnover on cards of Kazakh banks in the territory and outside the country reached 21.1 trillion tenge in 2018, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

This is a 53.1 percent year-on-year growth.

Money turnover on the cards of international systems issued by Kazakh banks is 21.09 trillion tenge, of which vast majority is taken by Visa (11.7 trillion tenge, a 21 percent increase) and MasterCard (7.4 trillion tenge, a 2.1 times growth).

Despite the leadership of the Visa system, its share in turnover decreased significantly to 55.3 percent, while the share of MasterCard increased to 35.3 percent.

At the same time, the volume of cash withdrawals from cards of international systems issued by Kazakh banks increased by 37 percent to 14.7 trillion tenge, while non-cash payments increased by 2.1 times to 6.3 trillion tenge.

The share of Visa decreased both in cash withdrawal (from 69.8 to 56.3 percent) and non-cash payments (from 71.1 to 53 percent).

MasterCard, on the contrary, increased its share in cashing out from 25.2 to 31.5 percent, and in non-cash payments from 26.7 to 44.1 percent.
