A Memorandum of Intention between The National Interbank Processing Center (NIPC) and the international payment system Mastercard is signed on May 13, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
The document suggests cooperation in two main areas of development of non-cash payments.
The first is support for accepting Humo payment cards for payment in the international Mastercard network and the issue of Humo International cards.
As a result of the signing of the memorandum, Humo International payment cards can be accepted in more than 70 million outlets around the world.
Shuhrat Kurbanov, director of the NIPC, stated that holders of Humo International payment cards can book hotel rooms, buy tickets via the Internet and carry out other online transactions.
The use of Humo International payment cards will be available not only abroad, but also in Uzbekistan.
The second area is the introduction of non-cash fare on public transport. The NIPC and Mastercard agreed to launch a pilot project in cooperation with the Tashkent Metro to receive Humo payment cards and Mastercard for payment in the subway.
The project will be implemented in several months, but the pilot project shall be launched in the near future.
