Georgia continues construction of Sachkhere-Oni highway (Exclusive)

At present, the Sachkhere-Oni highway is under construction in Georgia, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Georgia told Trend.

The completion of the phased work is scheduled for this year.

“The 51 km long road is divided into 7 lots with a total estimated cost of 108.5 million lari. After the construction is completed, the trip time will be reduced by 1.5 hours,” the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the construction of the Baghdati-Abastumani road, with a total length of 61.5 km, also continues in Georgia. The total cost of the project is 323.8 million lari. The project involves the construction of a 3-kilometer tunnel at the Zekari Pass.

According to representatives of the ministry, this will allow the highway to work for 12 months of the year.

Therefore, after the work is completed, a four-hour trip from Kutaisi Airport to Abastumani will be reduced by 1.5 hours.

In addition to the construction of international highways, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Georgia also supports and implements various projects in the country's infrastructure, the ministry said.
