Georgia and Kazakhstan expand mutual trade

Within the framework of the meeting of Astana Economic Forum in 2019, a roadmap to expand the range of mutual trade for 2019-2022 was signed between Kazakhstan and Georgia, Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan told Trend.

“The priority areas of the roadmap include the promotion of bilateral trade, joint activities aimed at increasing trade, export support, the development of freight transport, and strengthening investment cooperation,” the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the parties identified the development of cooperation in the transport sector, agriculture, and the fuel and energy complex as priority areas.

Reportedly, cooperation between the two countries is intensifying in the field of information and communication technologies and innovations, tourism, science and education, social protection of the population, healthcare, as well as in the further improvement of the legal framework.

The parties expressed their intention to take substantive decisions to ensure the growth of volumes and expand the range of commodity circulation in certain sectors of the economy and implement specific investment projects. As a result, the volume of mutual trade in the short term is planned to be doubled and brought to $300 million.

Diplomatic relations between Georgia and Kazakhstan were established on July 24, 1992. Countries are actively cooperating in the fields of trade, energy and transport.
