Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) continues to support Georgia, said Shane Rosenthal, ADB’s new Country Director for Georgia, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.

Rosenthal joined ADB’s Georgia Resident mission on September 25.

Georgian Finance Minister Ivane Matchavariani has met Rosenthal to discuss Georgia’s priorities and the ADB’s contribution to the development of the Georgian economy.

The sides discussed Georgia’s strategy for the priorities of 2019-2023 which are deepening regional relationships, the development of the private sector, transport infrastructure, as well as deepening the cooperation with the ADB in education, professional development and public administration.

Rosenthal noted Georgia's progress in structural and economic reforms.

“I am delighted to be in Georgia. ADB’s partnership with Georgia is transforming in ways that suit the needs of a rapidly growing upper middle-income country. This includes financing and know-how for investments to underpin regional connectivity, close the skills gap, and make urban areas thrive. Closer engagement with the private sector clients is key”, said Rosenthal.

ADB has supported Georgia since 2007 and is one of the largest development partners for Georgia.

As of today, loans to Georgia from ADB amounted to $2.8 billion.
