Cash turnover through bank cash desks from January through September 2019 amounted to $20.6 billion and increased 1.7 times compared to the same period last year, Trend reported citing Uzbekistan’s Central Bank.
If for 9 months of 2017, an average of 15.2 percent of cash in circulation was received at banks’ cash desks, for 9 months of 2018 this figure averaged 28.7 percent, and for the same period of the current year amounted to 43.1 percent.
In particular, the share of cash issued from banks' cash desks for the purchase of foreign currency increased from 9.1 percent to 21.9 percent for 9 months of 2019 compared to the same period in 2017, and cash withdrawals from bank cards increased from 6,1 percent to 25.5 percent.
As of 3Q2019, cash worth $2.6 billion, or 32 percent of the funds credited to bank cards during this period ($8.3 billion), was withdrawn from bank cards.
In the reporting period, cash withdrawn through ATMs amounted to $1.8 billion and increased 7.3 times compared to the same period last year.
