Georgia's sees increase in tourism revenues

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 16

Georgia's tourism revenues amounted to $266.9 million in October 2019, which is 5.2 percent more than in October 2018, Trend reports with reference to the National Bank of Georgia.

According to the bank, in October, after a three-month decline, revenues continued to grow.

In particular, revenues decreased by 8.6 percent in July, by 6.8 percent in August and by 4.9 percent in September.

In addition, in October, 735,100 visitors visited Georgia, which is 11 percent more compared to the same period last year.

According to the Geostat report, in the third quarter of 2019, the number of international visitors (non-resident travelers of age 15 or older, who visited Georgia from their area of residence) stood at 2.2 million, which is one percent more than in the same period last year.

About 67.3 percent of international visitors were tourists only (visitors who spent at least one night in Georgia).

The share of excursionists (a visitor whose trip does not include an overnight stay in Georgia) amounted to 26.3 percent.
