Export of fruits from Georgia increases

The volume of exports of fruits from Georgia from January through October 2019 amounted to $78.9 million, Trend reports with reference to National Statistical Office of Georgia (Geostat).

The share of fruits in Georgia’s total exports for the same period was 2.6 percent.

The main positions in the group were occupied by hazelnuts - $42.3 million, peaches - $12.5 million, bananas - $4.8 million, apples - $4.5 million, persimmon - $2.3 million, tangerines – $2.2 million, pistachios - $1.4 million and walnuts - $1.3 million.

Compared to the same period last year, fruit exports increased by 4.4 percent.

From January through October 2018, Georgia exported fruits worth $75.6 million. Their share in the total volume of Georgian exports for the same period amounted to 2.75 percent.

The export of vegetables from Georgia in the first 10 months of 2019 amounted to $9.1 million. The share of vegetables in the total export of Georgia for the same period was 0.3 percent. The leading positions in the group were occupied by tomatoes - $1.8 million and mushrooms - $1 million.

During the reporting period, the volume of export of vegetables decreased by 6.2 percent compared to the same period of 2018.

From January through October 2018, vegetables worth $9.7 million were exported from Georgia. The share of vegetables in total exports amounted to 0.35 percent. Tomatoes with $3.8 million and potatoes with $1.3 million took the leading positions.
