Income from international travelers increases in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 4

Income from international travelers (who stay in a country for more than six months not for tourism, but for the purposes of education, employment, family reunion, etc.) in Georgia reached $2.8 billion (an increase of 0.9 percent) from January through October this year, Trend reports citing the Georgian National Tourism Administration.

This figure is $25 million more compared to the same period last year.

According to data of October this year, income from international travelers in Georgia amounted to $267 million (an increase of 5.2 percent), which is $13 million more compared to the same period last year.

In the second quarter of this year, income from international travelers in Georgia amounted to $877 million (an increase of 8.4 percent), which is $68 million more compared to the same period last year.

In the first and second quarter, income from international travelers in Georgia is $1.5 billion (an increase of 7 percent), which is $95 million more compared to the same period last year.

The share of tourism in the country's GDP according to the first and second quarter is 7.7 percent, which is 19.7 percent more compared to the same period last year.
