Tashkent hosted the final conference on the EU-sponsored Program on “Sustainable Management of Water Resources in rural areas in Uzbekistan”, on February 7, 2020, Trend reports via Uzbek media.
At the conference, the Head of the EU Delegation, Ambassador Eduards Stiprais noted that the European Union has supported the development of Uzbekistan's water sector since 2016 and has allocated 20 million euros to the country.
National Framework Concept on Water Management and Integrated Water Resources Management project is implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources.
According to the European Union Delegation to Uzbekistan, earlier, 28 sets of Level - Leica Sprinter-250 M were officially handed over in the framework of project.
Handed over modern digital levels «Leica Sprinter 250M» allows accurately measure the topography of the area, the depth and width of the channel, allowing quickly analyze the data during the construction and renovation of hydro-construction.
With the aim of technical capacity enhancement of water organizations, the following six Basin Irrigation System Authorities were selected - Syrdarya-Sokh, Lower-Syrdarya, Zarafshan, Amu-Kashkadarya, Amu-Surkhan and Left-bank Amudarya BISAs.
The program also procured 18 trucks and six excavators, six crane trucks, six concrete mixers, six diesel generators, six mini tractors, six mobile pumping stations, as well as installed 720 gauging stations in pilot regions.
