Uzbekistan continues to increase export of gold

Uzbekistan exported gold worth $489.8 million in January 2020, Trend reports with the reference to Committee of Statistics of Uzbekistan.

According to the data, the growth was 60.3 percent compared to January 2019. The share of gold in the structure of Uzbekistan's exports in January 2020 made up 38.1 percent.

Uzbekistan has increased export of gold in recent years. The value of gold exports in 2015 exceeded $823.9 million, in 2016 - $738.2 million, in 2017 - $1.6 billion, in 2018 - $2.91 billion and in 2019 - $4.92 billion.

According to official statistics, the main position of Uzbek exports in 2019 were precious metals. Gold accounted for more than 27.5 percent of total national exports.

The official gold and foreign exchange reserves of Uzbekistan at the beginning of 2020 amounted to 29.1 billion dollars.

In autumn 2017, official reserves amounted to 29 billion dollars, which is mainly due to the growth of gold prices, while the amount of gold has almost remained unchanged compared by October 2019 - 10.8 million troy ounces (311,034,768 grams) or 336 tons.

Recently it was reported that by mid-2020, Uzbekistan will install automatic machines for selling gold and silver bullion weighing one, three and five grams.
