TEHRAN, Iran, March 4
Trend:
Iran has extended users' payment deadline for power and water bills for March until May due to the country's situation, said Energy Minister.
"In the current situation, there is a need for more water for health care, and there is no lack of energy or water due to proper level of consumption by citizens," Reza Ardekani, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"The flood in some regions have caused problems for some water treatment facilities, which had to reduce the water pressure to maintain the quality," Ardekani said.
"While coronavirus situation is getting better, we will implement necessary measures so that people can pay for the water bills in batches," the minister said adding that those users who experience problems can pay their water and power bills by May.
"The major task today is that we will not face lack of vital resource," he said.
Iran has advised citizens to stay at home to avoid spread coronavirus infection, while the government has closed schools and universities and many employees are working from home.
The government has announced that it will support businesses that are effected by the shutdowns and implement measures by providing bank loans.
