Deposits volume of physical entities increases in Kazakhstan

The volume of deposits in Kazakhstan’s deposit organizations amounted to 18.5 trillion tenge ($41.5 billion) in Feb. 2020, which is 0.6 percent less compared to Jan. 2020, Trend reports with reference to the data of Kazakhstan’s National Bank.

Deposits of legal persons decreased in value by 4.3 percent to 9.1 trillion tenge ($20.5 billion), whereas deposits of physical persons increased by 3.3 percent to 9.3 trillion tenge ($20.9 billion).

In turn, value of deposits denominated in national currency (tenge) increased by 0.1 percent in a month to 10.8 trillion tenge ($24.1 billion), whereas value of deposits denominated in foreign currency decreased by 1.5 percent to 7.7 trillion tenge ($17.3 billion).

Dollarization level amounted to 41.9 percent as of the end of Feb. 2020 compared to 43.1 percent as of the end of Feb. 2019.

Tenge denominated deposits of legal entities decreased by 2.1 percent in Feb. 2020 having amounted to 5.3 trillion tenge ($11.9 billion), whereas foreign currency denominated deposits of legal entities decreased by 7.2 percent to 3.8 trillion tenge ($8.5 billion). Foreign currency denominated deposits account for 41.7 percent of the total volume of legal entities deposits.

Tenge denominated deposits of physical entities increased by 2.4 percent to 5.4 trillion tenge ($12.1 billion), whereas foreign currency denominated deposits of physical entities increased by 4.7 percent to 3.9 trillion tenge ($8.8 billion). Foreign currency denominated deposits of physical entities account for 42.1 percent of the total volume of physical entities’ deposits.

Value of time deposits amounted to 12.6 trillion tenge ($28.1 billion), having decreased by 0.7 percent in Feb. 2020 compared to Jan. 2020. Value of tenge denominated time deposits amounted to 7.3 trillion tenge ($16.3 billion), whereas foreign currency denominated time deposits amounted to 5.2 trillion tenge ($11.8 billion).

Weighted average remuneration rate on time deposits of non-bank legal entities in tenge amounted to 7.1 percent in Feb. 2020 compared to 7.2 percent in Feb. 2019, whereas weighted average remuneration rate on deposits of physical entities was 8.9 percent in Feb. 2020 compared to 9.5 percent in Feb. 2019.
