Iran's loan application to MFA to be proceeded

TEHRAN, Iran, April. 9

Iran Vice President for Economic Affairs Mohammad Nahavandian denied the rumors about the rejection of Iran's loan application to International Monetary Fund.

Many countries are asking the International Monetary Fund for loans to equip themselves against coronavirus, and Iran requested $5-billion immediate funding from IMF, he said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"Iran's request has been processed, and many countries have supported it,” Nahavandian said.

“Iran is a founding member of the International Monetary Fund and has a good financial performance, so the fund must do what is expected of it,” he said.

The official went on to say that the world is witnessing the dark side of globalization.

“We have a global problem, but we do not have a global solution to it,” he said. “Now is the time for cooperation, not the time to start new fights and prevent the country from gaining access to medical supplies.”

"We are all sitting in the same boat. No country, including the United States, has the right to veto the request for a loan from the International Monetary Fund," Nahavandian added.

“When it comes to the worldwide spread of a disease, it is important to understand that if the disease is not controlled in one part of the world, it will not be controlled in the rest of the world,” he said.
