Azerbaijan sees industrial production growth

Azerbaijan produced industrial goods worth 46.8 billion manat ($27.5 billion) in 2019, which is 41.4 percent of the country’s GDP, Trend reports referring to a report on activities of Azerbaijan's Cabinet of Ministers in 2019.

According to the report, output of industrial products increased by 1.8 percent compared to 2018.

Industrial companies manufactured products worth 11.3 billion manat ($6.6 billion) in the non-oil sector of industry (24.3 percent of the total production).

Some 69.9 percent of industrial goods were produced in the extractive sector, 25.2 percent accounted for the processing sector, 4.2 percent - for the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, and 0.7 percent – for the waste transportation, treatment and recycling.

In the reporting year, wood processing and manufacture of wood products grew by 82.9 percent, tobacco products – by 80.7 percent, finished metal products - by 80 percent.

Output of computer, electronic and optical products increased by 51.8 percent, beverages - by 41.4 percent, textile products – by 33.2 percent, furniture production - by 29.5 percent, installation and repair of machinery and equipment - by 27.5 percent, chemical production - 25.6 percent, paper and cardboard production - 25.5 percent, printing products - 42.2 percent, clothes – 22.6 percent, rubber and plastic products - 22 percent, pharmaceuticals - 20.6 percent, and food products - 10.8 percent.

The production of building materials grew by 5 percent, machinery and equipment - by 1 percent, whereas production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers decreased by 17.7 percent.
