Revenues of Azerbaijani Railways CJSC in 2019 amounted to 299.8 million manat ($176.3 million), which is 10.7 percent more compared to 2018, Trend reports referring to a report on the activity of the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers in 2019 submitted to the country’s parliament.
According to the report, in 2019, cargo transportation in Azerbaijan made up 235.3 million tons (2.2 percent decrease from the 2018 figures), and cargo turnover reached 89.8 million ton kilometers.
The share of rail transportation amounted to 6.4 percent of all freight traffic and amounted to 15.2 million tons, increasing by 9.1 percent.
Some 3.9 million people were transported in the country in 2019, which indicates an increase of 35.6 percent. The cargo turnover amounted to over 5.1 million ton kilometers, and passenger turnover – 543.8 million passenger kilometers, which are 14.7 percent and 16.7 percent more compared to 2018, respectively.
Some 3.8 million tons of cargo were transported in transit (25 percent), 11.9 million tons accounted for total transportation (78.3 percent), and over 4.3 million tons (84.6 percent) – for international transportation.
The share of freight traffic via Azerbaijan Railways in 2019 was 21.7 percent, passenger transportation - 94.3 percent; share of non-oil cargo transported in transit increased by 39.2 percent compared to the previous year and amounted to 2,583 tons.
In 2019, the total investment in fixed assets of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC amounted to 1 million manat ($1.7 million). Funds allocated from the state budget within the framework of state capital investments amounted to 653.9 million manat ($384.6 million).
