Azerbaijan's industrial production grows in 1Q2020

Azerbaijan has manufactured industrial products worth 10.6 billion manat ($6.2 billion) from January through March 2020, Trend reports referring to Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee’s data on April 15.

According to the committee, volume of industrial production in the country has increased by 0.8 percent compared to the same period in 2019. In March 2020, it grew by 37.7 percent.

Output volume of industrial production in Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector increased by 23 percent.

Some 65.5 percent of industrial goods were produced in the extractive sector, 28.4 percent accounted for the processing sector, 5.4 percent - for the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, and 0.7 percent – for the water supply, waste treatment and recycling.

Output in the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam increased by 17.1 percent, and in the water supply, waste treatment and recycling – by 4.2 percent.

The share of oil production in the extractive sector decreased by 3.9 percent, and commercial gas increased by 15.3 percent.

In the reporting period, production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers increased by 7.3 times, other vehicles – by 66.7 percent, computer, electronic and optical products - by 3.9 times, metallurgical products – by 2.1 times, pharmaceuticals – 36.7 percent, wood processing and manufacture of wood products, as well as tobacco products – by 28 percent, chemical production - 25.7 percent, rubber and plastic products - 25 percent, printing products, as well paper and cardboard production – 20.2 percent, manufacture of electric equipment – 18.3 percent, furniture production - by 14.1 percent, textile products – by 10.5 percent, clothes – 10 percent, oil products – 9.6 percent, food products – 5.3 percent, finished metal products - by 2.7 percent.

Furthermore, in the first quarter of 2020, the production of building materials dropped by 14.8 percent, installation and repair of machinery and equipment - by 20.7 percent, output of leather and its products, shoes - by 60.7 percent
