Iran announces amount of funds sold at NIMA exchange rate

Iranian exporters sold 447 million euros to banks at the NIMA exchange rate (the exchange rate created for exporters to sell a portion of their export earnings to banks) during March 20-April 19, 2020, Trend reports citing official website of NIMA.

According to statistics, in addition, 379 million euros were sold to importers at the NIMA exchange rate during the period.

As many as 27.7 billion euros (obtained from exports) were sold to banks at the NIMA exchange rate from the end of April 2018 to the last day (April 19, 2020). During the same period, 23.5 billion euros were sold to importers.

According to statistics, exporters sold about 32 million euros, importers received 42 million euros in the first week. In the second week, exporters sold 27 million euros and importers received 16 million euros.

Exporters sold 225 million euros and importers received 121 million euros in the third week. In the fourth week, exporters sold 161 million euros and importers received 201 million euros.

Devaluation was experienced in the summer of 2018 in Iran. Thus, the price for $1 on the black market has jumped from by than 200,000 rials, from 35,000 rials. With the intervention of the Iranian government on the foreign exchange market, the US dollar has fallen to some extent.

According to the currency exchange rate of the Central Bank of Iran, $1 equals 42,000 rials, 1 euro equals 46,000 rials, based on the exchange rate offered to banks, $1 equals 152,000 rials, 1 euro equals 167,000 rials (SANA), $1 equals 136,000 rials (NIMA) and 1 euro equals 149,000 rials.
