Turkmenistan to expand use of non-cash payments in banking system

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 9

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has ordered to expand and improve the non-cash payments in the country’s banking system, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

This was said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held via videoconference.

At this meeting, the president noted that the activities of banking institutions are not organized at the proper level. He ordered to take necessary steps to reduce the physical cash flow.

The president was informed about the measures taken to implement monetary policy during the four months of this year, to modernize the electronic infrastructure for providing services, and to expand the list of banking products.

The results of work in the financial and budgetary system of Turkmenistan, as well as the implementation of the program of the president of Turkmenistan for socio-economic development of the country from 2020 through 2025 and programs for the development of industries were discussed.

The president stressed that economic indicators in the country show stable development. One of the main tasks is to monitor the impact of ongoing processes on Turkmenistan's economy.
