Output in Azerbaijani industry's non-oil sector rises

Azerbaijan has manufactured industrial products worth 13 billion manat ($7.6 billion) from January through April 2020, Trend reports referring to Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee’s data.

According to the data, the output of industrial production was 3 percent more compared to the same period in 2019. In March 2020, the output increased by 22.6 percent.

In the non-oil sector of industry, production grew by 16.8 percent.

In the extractive sector, 63.1 percent accounted for industrial production, 30.5 percent for processing production, 5.6 percent for electricity, gas and steam generation, distribution and supply. The water supply, waste treatment and recycling sector accounted for 0.8 percent.

In the sector of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, output increased by 14 percent, in the sector of water supply, waste treatment and recycling - by 2.5 percent.

The share of oil production in the extractive sector decreased by 0.2 percent, and commercial gas increased by 17.1 percent.

The production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers increased 4.7 times, other vehicles - 35.1 percent, computer, electronic and optical products - 2.6 times, products of the metallurgical industry - 2.3 times, pharmaceutical products - by 60.7 percent, in the field of woodworking and wood products - by 48.6 percent.

Output of chemical products grew by 24.9 percent, rubber and plastic products - by 20 percent, paper and cardboard production - by 19, 3 percent, production of tobacco products - 18.9 percent, beverages - 8.3 percent, food products - 8.1 percent, oil products - 5.1 percent, finished metal products - 4.4 percent, clothing - 3.6 percent, and textile products - 1.2 percent.

Meanwhile, a decrease was recorded in output of furniture - by 0.9 percent, printing products - by 2.3 percent, building materials - by 4.5 percent, in the field of installation and repair of machinery and equipment - by 23.8 percent, in the production of leather and products from it, shoes - by 54.1 percent.
