Azerbaijan's statistical committee reveals production data for industrial sector

Industrial production amounted to 13 billion manat ($7.6 billion) in Azerbaijan from January through April 2020, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee.
Over the reporting period, the volume of industrial production increased by 3 percent compared to the same period of 2019.
In April 2020, the country’s industrial production increased by 22.6 percent on an annualized basis.
In the non-oil sector of industry, production volume grew by 16.8 percent.
In the mining sector, 63.1 percent accounted for industrial production, 30.5 percent - processing, 5.6 percent - production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam. The water supply, waste treatment and recycling sector accounted for 0.8 percent.
The volume of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, increased by 14 percent, while water supply, waste treatment and recycling increased by 2.5 percent.
The share of oil production in the mining sector decreased by 0.2 percent, and commercial gas increased by 17.1 percent.
The production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers increased 4.7 times, computer, electronic and optical products - 2.6 times, metallurgical industry - 2.3 times, pharmaceutical products - 60.7 percent, in the woodworking and wood products from wood - by 48.6 percent, other vehicles - by 35.1 percent, chemicals - by 24.9 percent, electrical equipment - by 20.6 percent, rubber and plastic products - by 20 percent, paper and cardboard - by 19.3 percent, tobacco products - 18.9 percent, drinks - 8.3 percent, food products - 8.1 percent, petroleum products - 5.1 percent, finished metallurgical products - 4.4 percent clothing - by 3.6 percent, and production in the textile industry - by 1.2 percent.
Along with this, a decrease of 0.9 percent was observed in furniture production, 2.3 percent in printing products. The production of building materials dropped by 4.5 percent. The production of machinery and equipment, and also in the field of their installation and repair work decreased by 23.8 and 36.3 percent, respectively, leather and its products, as well as shoes dropped by 54.1 percent.
