Individuals' deposits value down in Kazakhstan

The volume of deposits in Kazakhstan’s deposit organizations amounted to 19.6 trillion tenge ($47.7 billion) in Apr. 2020, which is 3.1 percent less compared to Mar. 2020, Trend reports with reference to the data of Kazakhstan’s National Bank.

Deposits of legal persons decreased in value by 5.7 percent to 9.9 trillion tenge ($24.1 billion), whereas deposits of physical persons dropped by 0.3 percent to 9.7 trillion tenge ($23.6 billion).

In turn, value of deposits denominated in national currency (tenge) increased by 2.9 percent in a month to 11.1 trillion tenge ($27.02 billion), whereas value of deposits denominated in foreign currency decreased by 10 percent to 8.5 trillion tenge ($20.7 billion).

Dollarization level amounted to 43.4 percent as of the end of Apr. 2020 compared to 43.1 percent as of the end of Dec. 2019.

Tenge denominated deposits of legal entities increased by 0.3 percent in Apr. 2020 having amounted to 5.6 trillion tenge ($13.7 billion), whereas foreign currency denominated deposits of legal entities decreased by 12.5 percent to 4.2 trillion tenge ($10.4 billion).

Meanwhile, tenge denominated deposits of physical entities increased by 5.8 percent to nearly 5.4 trillion tenge ($13.2 billion), whereas foreign currency denominated deposits of physical entities decreased by 7.2 percent to 4.2 trillion tenge ($10.3 billion).

Value of time deposits amounted to 13.2 trillion tenge ($32.2 billion), having increased by 1.1 percent in Apr. 2020 compared to Mar. 2020.

Value of tenge denominated time deposits amounted to 7.4 trillion tenge ($18.08 billion), whereas foreign currency denominated time deposits amounted to 5.8 trillion tenge ($14.1 billion).

Weighted average remuneration rate on time deposits of non-bank legal entities in tenge amounted to 7.5 percent in Apr. 2020 compared to 7.2 percent in Apr. 2019, whereas weighted average remuneration rate on deposits of physical entities was 10 percent in Apr. 2020 compared to 9.9 percent in Apr. 2019.
