Investments help Kazakhstan raise agriculture goods processing

Implementation of agricultural projects carried out in Kazakhstan in 2019 allowed to increase food products output, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov said, Trend reports with reference to the Central Communications Service under Kazakhstan’s President.

Omarov made the statement during a press briefing held on Jun. 3, 2020.

He said vegetable oil production increased by 24.6 percent, pasta by 4.6 percent, gluten and wheat starch output went up by 2.2 and 5.5 times, respectively.

Omarov reminded that last year the following ventures for processing of agricultural goods were introduced in Kazakhstan: Biooperation LLP (production of starch, gluten, fodder products, bioethanol); AKMEZ LLP (production of vegetable oil); Urozhay LLP (production of wheat flour, cereals); Saule Confectionery Factory LLP (production of confectionery).

He said that funding worth 230.8 billion tenge ($575.5 million) was allocated last year to finance the plant growing sector. Some 37 investment projects for manufacturing and processing of agricultural goods worth 63.4 billion tenge ($158.1 million) were funded last year.

Omarov also noted that the overall number of projects from manufacturing and processing of agricultural goods commissioned last year amounted to 37 ventures.
