Every fifth securities transaction accounts for primary market  in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijani National Depository Center registered 1,410 exchange transactions and 135 over-the-counter (OTC) transactions from January through May 2020, Trend reports referring to the Center’s statistics data.

Some 315 deals worth 1.4 billion manat ($823 million) were concluded in the primary exchange market, while 1,230 transactions worth 1.8 billion manat ($1.05 billion) were concluded in the secondary market.

In percentage terms, one fifth of all transactions and 46 percent of the monetary volume accounted for the primary exchange market. About 80 percent of transactions and 54 percent of monetary volume accounted for the secondary exchange market.

As many as 277 transactions worth 1.3 billion manat ($764 million) accounted for exchange transactions in the structure of transactions in the primary market. Thirty-eight deals were concluded in the primary over-the-counter market, the total volume of which amounted to 83.9 million manat ($49.3 million).

Some 1,138 deals were concluded in the secondary exchange market, the total volume of which amounted to 1.3 billion manat ($764 million). Accordingly, the number of transactions in the secondary over-the-counter market amounted to 92, while the volume - 501 million manat ($294 million).

In percentage terms, 92.5 percent of transactions accounted for the secondary exchange market and 72.3 percent of the monetary volume. Some 7.5 percent of transactions and less than 27.8 percent of the monetary volume, respectively, accounted for the secondary over-the-counter market.

In total, 315 deals worth 1.4 billion manat ($823 million) registered by the Center were concluded in the primary market.

A total of 1,230 transactions worth 1.8 billion manat ($1.05 billion) registered by the Center were concluded in the secondary market.
