The Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has approved the decision on providing grants to finance projects in Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing Dunyo News Agency.

In total, Latvia will finance nine grant projects for implementation in a number of EU Eastern Partnership countries and in Central Asian countries for a total amount of approximately 450,000 euros.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Riga, three of these grants will be allocated to Uzbekistan:

SunGIS LLC project provides for the creation of a fully operational version of the topographic and geospatial data portal. It is aimed at forming a unified cadastre system in Uzbekistan with online access to it, providing continuity of services for the construction industry in crisis conditions, including those caused by the pandemic. It will provide prompt access to topographic information in natural disasters.

The objective of the Centrs MARTA project is to support women in Uzbekistan (as well as Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan) in overcoming the socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Finally, Cleantech Latvia Project aims to help improve the efficiency of heat supply services by ensuring the economic feasibility of heat use in order to avoid increasing costs during the pandemic.

According to the Latvian Foreign Ministry, funding has been provided for the projects that have received the highest ratings in the selection process.
