Central Bank of Uzbekistan reveals data on volume of money transfers

The volume of cross-border money transfers to Uzbekistan amounted to $2.4 billion, in the first half of 2020, Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

This is $156 million (six percent) more compared to the same period of last year.

In June 2020, the volume of cross-border money transfers to the country increased by $136 million (28 percent) compared to May 2020 and increased by $63 million (11.3 percent) compared to June 2019 to $621 million.

In the second quarter of 2020, the volume of cross-border money transfers to Uzbekistan increased by $275 million (25.4 percent) compared to the first quarter of 2020 and decreased by $173 million (11.3 percent) to $1.3 billion compared to the second quarter of 2019.

Volume of sent funds from Uzbekistan to other states reached $427 million in the period from January through June 2020, which is $40 million (or nine percent) less in comparison with the same period of 2019.

As a result, the surplus on cross-border money transfers decreased by $116 million (five percent) to $2 billion, the message said.
