The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a 5 million euros loan to improve public transport and services in the Georgian ski resort of Bakuriani, Trend reports via the EBRD.
"This project will help improve the quality of municipal services and safety measures in an important resort town. Improving Georgia’s municipal infrastructure, especially in the regions, is of paramount importance for the EBRD,” said EBRD Regional Director for the Caucasus Catarina Bjorlin Hansen.
Hansen said that the project will also help promote gender equality across the workforce.
The financing will help to acquire special vehicles for street cleaning, snow removal and waste collection, as well as to purchase multi-purpose trucks, and 10 modern buses for passenger transport.
Bakuriani is a daba and a skiing resort in the Borjomi district of Georgia. It is located on the northern slope of the Trialeti Range, at an elevation of 1,700 meters above sea level.
