Non-cash payments by foreigners in Azerbaijan down

Foreign citizens spent 279.7 million manat ($164.2 million) in Azerbaijan using bank cards from January through June 2020, which is 2.1 times less compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the ‘Export Review’ of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC).

According to the report, foreign citizens spent 23.7 million manat ($13.9 million) in Azerbaijan through bank cards in June 2020, which is 4.8 times less compared to June 2019, and 4.5 times less compared to June 2018.

In 2019, foreign citizens spent 1.25 billion manat ($735 million) in Azerbaijan using bank cards, while a year earlier this figure was 1.8 percent less, the report said.

In 2018, foreigners spent 1.27 billion manat ($747 million) in the country in a similar way, noted the CAERC.
