Over half of transactions at Baku Stock Exchange account for public securities

The total volume of public securities transactions on the Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) amounted to over 3.9 billion manat ($2.2 billion) making up 64.8 percent of all transactions on the BSE totaling 6 billion manat ($3.5 billion) from January through July 2020 against more than 7.5 billion manat ($4.4 billion) in the same period of the last year, Trend reports referring to the BSE data.

The number of transactions made up 863 (32.8 percent of all transactions), resulting in plung by almost two times in the total volume of operations carried out during the first seven months of 2020.

Among the transactions, 514 transactions worth over 3.4 billion manat ($2 billion) were conducted in the primary market.

As many as 912 operations totaling 558.7 million manat ($328.6 million) accounted for the secondary market of public securities.

REPO transactions on public securities amounted to 810.5 million manat ($476.7 million). In total, 504 repo transactions on public securities were carried out at BSE from January through July 2020, which is 233 repo transactions more than during the first seven months of 2019.
