Entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan’s Karakalpakstan to receive tax incentives

Entrepreneurs from each of the 16 districts of Karakalpakstan Republic in Uzbekistan will be exempted from a number of taxes for three years, Trend reports referring to the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.

For the past four years, production in Karakalpakstan has doubled due to the construction and commissioning of dozens of large textile, pharmaceutical, electrical and other modern industrial enterprises.

As a result of the laying of water supply networks, the level of centralized drinking water supply increased from 40 to 67 percent. Some 241 objects of education, healthcare, culture and sports were built and overhauled.

Measures have been developed for the next three years to accelerate the development of all spheres of life in Karakalpakstan. In order to further develop all 16 districts of Karakalpakstan, business entities will be exempted from paying land tax, property tax, and turnover tax for small businesses, income tax for individual entrepreneurs for a period of three years.

In addition, new industrial enterprises in Takhtakupir, Bozataus and Shumanai districts with a low level of development will be provided with tax and customs privileges for the same period.

Priorities for the next three years have been identified. These include accelerated development of districts, provision of employment and poverty reduction, implementation of investment projects, mitigating the negative impact of the Aral Sea disaster, full use of the potential of the service sector, support for agriculture, housing construction, development of social infrastructure, support for youth and women, crime prevention.
