Georgia's international foreign exchange reserves up

Georgia's international foreign exchange reserves increased by $ 258.6 million, or by 7.4 percent from January through September 2020, to $3.76 billion, Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia.

In the third quarter, the country's foreign exchange reserves increased by 4.1 percent, while in September they decreased by 4.2 percent.

Over the year (from the end of September 2019 to the end of September 2020), foreign exchange reserves increased by 4.5 percent.

According to the National Bank, reserves in foreign currency as of October 1 amounted to $3.56 billion, which is 4.8 percent more than at the beginning of the year, special drawing rights (SDR) - $198.3 million (an increase of 0.2 percent ).

Following the "Main Economic and Financial Indicators of Georgia" updated in September, the country's international foreign exchange reserves at the end of 2020 are planned at $325.3 billion, or 21.9 percent of the projected GDP ($15.17 billion). Previously, they were planned in the amount of $3.57 billion, or 21.3 percent of the expected GDP ($16.76 billion).

As reported, in 2019, Georgia's international foreign exchange reserves increased by 6.6 percent - to $3.50 billion (19.8 percent of GDP).
